Poor buddy

We took the kids to Elitch Gardens (kind of like 6 Flags) today. Kobe insisted on riding this little baby roller coaster called the "Cactus Coaster" He was an inch taller than the minimum height so we figured it would be alright. The ride goes around the track 3 times, Katie got on with him and went around twice but then wanted to get off. At that point I thought maybe we should make Kobe get off too but he REALLY wanted to stay on, he was crying and trying to put the seatbelt back on and didn't want to get off. We figured that since he was over the minimum height to ride alone, it would be ok. Well first of all there is only a lap belt holding the kids in and then a bar comes down over their lap. The bar was scalding hot so Kobe couldn't touch it to use it to hold on to. The ride goes around a corner really fast and it threw Kobe against the side of the car that is basically just a metal bar with no padding. Poor little guy, he came around the corner and was screaming hysterically. We got him off the ride and his ear was all blue and swollen and he was crying really hard and holding his ear. We got some ice and asked to talk to a manager. Finally after about 30 minutes we talked to a guy who basically just had us write down what happened and that was it. I'm not sure what to do at this point. That is a very dangerous ride and they need to either raise the minimum height requirement or add a 5-point harness to the ride to limit the kids being thrown side to side. I guess I'm going to write a letter to the corporate office and send these pictures. I'm just so upset that we took him there to have a fun day and he ends up getting hurt pretty badly because of their crappy ride. :(

OMG - that looks really sore!!!! The restraints on most rides are pretty lacking, except for the ones where they go upside down, where they really need to be secure. It's a big area that needs a lot of improvement! I hope your letter gets noticed and some action!
